Snow Hits the Colorado Mountains in September?
Oh yeah, you betcha! Reports have been flying off the mountain that Colorado received some snow last night, and pictures (like the one below from Breckenridge) are being shared. Thanks Mother Nature! Now can you please bring some snow to the California mountains?
Time to get your equipment out of storage. Winter is upon us and it's not even October yet.

We need some Tru Snow
The vamps in the HBO series "True Blood," based on Charlaine Harris' "The Southern Vampire Mysteries" have it. Why don't we?
When the weather just gets too warm during the winter months in Los Angeles and snow seems difficult to find in the nearby mountains, I think there needs to be some Tru Snow for us to drink.
Hungry skiers and boarders are in need. Mother Nature better turn her cold shoulder again very soon or the hunger will grow and it won't be pretty. Trust me.

If it's raining in LA, does that mean it's snowing in the mountains?
It's been raining and chilly in Los Angeles the past week two weeks. I love it. This is perfect weather. The only other perfect weather includes some white fairy dust from heaven, aka SNOW.
So if it's raining in the greater Los Angeles, does that mean it's snowing in the nearby mountains? My quick interwebs investigation told me not yet. However, maybe at the very top top somewhere?
What is the sound of one hand clapping? Well below is the sound of snow falling on pine trees.

D.C. Snowfest 2010
This past weekend, Washington, D.C. welcomed a ton of beautiful snow. A ton. As of late afternoon yesterday (Sunday, February 7) there was a record of over 32 inches measured at nearby Dulles International Airport in Virginia. The most D.C.'s seen before was 28 inches in 1922!
The weekend was filled with snowfest excitement. There were snowball fights in Dupont Circle, iced snowman chess played, and cars and tables buried high high high!
Tens of thousands workers were given the day off today. I've never had a Snow Day in my adulthood (probably since I live in Southern California), but I remember the few minutes of anticipation when hearing the school closing announcements in the early morning. Most of the time, my private school never closed but when it did, pure joy.
More snow is headed to the Mid-Atlantic later this week. Get those cross-country skis waxed and ready to go!
