Coined South Africa's First Lady of Song, Miriam Makeba doesn't come from the mountains. However, her voice and being was as strong as them, and that's why she I'm labeling her as a Mountain Mama.
A singer and civil rights activist, Miriam campaigned against apartheid in South Africa and passed away in 2008. She performed with Paul Simon during his powerful Graceland Tour performance in Zimbabwe in 1986. I'll let Paul take it away:
