SKI
Etymology: Mid 18th Century Norwegian, from Old Norse skith 'stick of wood, snowshoe.'
1. one of a pair of narrow strips of wood, metal, or plastic curving upward in front that are used especially for gliding over snow (noun)
2. a. To travel or glide on skis, especially as a sport (verb intr.)
b. To travel or glide over on skis (verb tr.)
I thought skiing was sitting in a hot tub drinking wine? Oh right...that's for people who can't ski on ski trips.
ReplyDeleteHot tub drinking is definitely included in the après ski definition. The non-skier gets the après party started, just early.
ReplyDeleteaprès-ski [ˌæpreɪˈskiː] n
(Individual Sports & Recreations / Skiing)
a. social activity following a day's skiing
b. (as modifier) an après-ski outfit
[French, literally: after ski]
